FOR ADULTS & CHILDREN
FUNCTIONAL MEDICINE & TESTING
At present all appointments are online via zoom.
A functional medicine assessment lasts for 75 minutes and covers your health concerns, symptoms, medical history, family history, lifestyle, physical activity, medication, supplements and current diet.
At the moment there is a short waiting list for initial appointments.
Once offered an appointment you will be be sent a food diary and a comprehensive questionnaire to complete online.
Following the assessment we will agree a plan of achievable diet and lifestyle changes and functional testing if required.
We may also include some supplementation according to your individual needs and aims.
TESTING & LAB FEES
Most functional medicine tests are not available on the NHS but we will always start by reviewing any test results or reports you already have.
Any recommendations for testing will be discussed with you at your appointment. Testing can only be commissioned following an assessment.
As a guide - adrenal function, hormone panels, comprehensive stool analysis, toxic metals, food sensitivities and organic acid tests are between £100-£300 each.
Blood tests (including full thyroid panels) are usually under £100. We refer these back to your GP where possible.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE?
Taking a functional medicine approach means sometimes change happens quickly - but often it can take some time.
This is not a quick fix solution. There is no one-size-fits-all in functional medicine. We are working to find the root causes specific to you and designing a solution unique to your own health history and symptoms.
A good example is migraines - the root cause may be a number of things including dehydration, hormones, food sensitivities, mineral deficiencies or a structural issue.
This is why when people ask us"do you work with X" the answer is "yes - but how we work with one person's X may be completely different to what's happening for you".
Generally we like to see people monthly. Usually this is for a minimum of 6 clinic visits but sometimes more, sometimes less.
After we have met for an initial assessment we will let you know an approximate timeline for our work together.
